Activities Abroad is the UK’s leading activity travel company. We have been in the family holiday business for nearly ten years and have accumulated an unparalleled level of experience. We offer more than just the usual family holiday experience; we have developed an extensive programme of overseas activity holidays in a number of different countries, featuring a wide range of activities. A typical week may include Canadian canoeing, hiking, canyoning, rock climbing and a high ropes course (the Ardeche holiday). Other activities include caving, tubing, lazy boat days, surfing, cycling, horse riding and snorkeling.
Individual family members can choose to participate in as few or as many activities as they wish over the course of their holiday (we also include free days for a bit of relaxation!).
The minimum age for the holidays starts at 8 years but this varies by holiday destination. Younger children are still able to travel. Activities Abroad also offer winter activity holidays in Finland, Sweden and Norway.

Accommodation Wherever possible the accommodation we use reflects the local environment and local culture. A range of accommodation is used including apartments, farmhouses, guesthouses and hotels.
Activities

We offer a selection of activities over the course of the week (we also throw in a free day for some rest time!) allowing individual family members to participate in as few or as many as they wish over the course of their holiday. A typical week could include a combination of the following: kayaking, canyoning, cycling, climbing and high ropes course, white water rafting, caving, surfing, hydrospeeding, horse riding, hiking and snorkeling (and many more!).

  All activities are provided by local activity providers. You choose to do as many or as few activities as you like - you only pay for the activities chosen.

Minimum Age

The minimum age for our holidays varies depending on the destination, but generally starts at 8 years old. Younger children are still able to travel and participation in activities is at the discretion of the local guides.

Age matching: We can provide you with the age and gender of every child on every single summer activity holiday we offer.
Teenage departures: We offer teenager departure dates to certain destinations and children should be 12 years and over to travel on these dates.

Mountainbug

Mountainbug is a small activity company based in the French Pyrenees and run by two British International Mountain Leaders. Mountainbug specialises in guided and independent Summer mountain activity holidays, including walking, cycling and family multi-activity weeks. Accommodation is at a beautifully renovated 18th century village house in the traditional mountain village of Bareges. Skiing and snowshoeing holidays are also available in the Winter - see the Skiing & Boarding section for details.

France: Bareges in the French Pyrenees.

Accommodation

3-star accommodation is provided in a newly restored 18th century stone house situated in the heart of Bareges village. The chalet can accommodate up to 14 people in 5 en-suite bedrooms, including one family suite, which sleeps 4 -7 people. The chalet has a spacious lounge with bar, books & games and big-screen home cinema. There is also a heated equipment room, sauna and sunny patio with mountain views. Accommodation is on a half-board basis (B&B on request).

Activities

Cycling and Mountain Biking: Winding roads and rugged trails of the Pyrenees. Road support and transfers available. Bareges is just below the Col du Tourmalet, and regularly features in the Tour de France.

Canyoning: Day trips, long weekends and full-week canyoning holidays. Discover the canyons of the French and Spanish Pyrenees. Abseiling, sliding, jumping and climbing...every which way!

Walking: Discover the culture, history and wildlife of the Pyrenees; explore the Pyrenean lake district; trek hut-to-hut amongst the highest peaks. Guided and independent itineraries for all abilities.

Paragliding: Introductory tandem jumps with 500-1200m of descent! Training courses for beginners working towards a pilot's licence, through to experts looking for an instructor qualification.

Multi-activity: Paragliding, cycling, mountain biking, canyoning, white water rafting, hot dog, luge, mountain hikes, climbing, peak ascents, caving, pony trekking, via ferrata: pick your sport! The itinerary can be tailored to suit the interests and abilities of your family. Multi activity weeks are suitable for children over 8 years old, and ideal for families with teenagers looking for an adventure.

Childcare & Kids Clubs

Private childcare is available with local babysitters. The village activity centre is open to children aged 4 and above during the school holidays (Christmas, New Year, February, July & August).

Simply Morzine

Simply Morzine is a family run company based in the village of Morzine in the French Alps. It offers family summer alpine holidays based in luxury accommodation. There is a choice of popular alpine sports and activities available, as well as sightseeing trips. You can join in with the organised activities and excursions as and when you wish or just do your own thing if you prefer. Simply Morzine also offer winter skiing and snowboarding holidays.

Destinations France: Morzine-Avoriaz in the French Alps.
Accommodation

A choice of properties is available to suit individual requirements. The accommodation ranges from the luxury catered Chalet des Montagnes, the luxury Chalet Madeleine available on a catered or self-catered basis, two self catered apartments and the traditional, family run Chalet-Hotel la Chaumiere. All catered properties have either outdoor jacuzzi, sauna or swimming pool. The properties are all located in quiet areas with no through traffic and have pleasant gardens with outdoor games e.g. table tennis, boules, badminton etc. A range of baby equipment is also available including cots, baby linen, stairgates, child car seats, booster seats, plastic crockery and cutlery. There are also indoor and outdoor games, videos and DVDs.

Activities

Simply Morzine offers a flexible itinerary of activities for your holiday which you can choose to suit your individual requirements and budget. There are a range of alpine sports and other activities to choose from, as well as sightseeing excursions.

Alpine sports: Trekking and mountaineering, white-water rafting, white-water hot-dogging, white-water hydrospeeding, canyoning, wakeboarding and waterskiing, mountain biking, via ferrata, rock climbing, paragliding, bungee jumping, fantasticable, quad biking, hot air ballooning, caving.

Other Activities: Walking, swimming in water parks & lakes, tennis, golf, toboggan run/luge, adventure park & Indiana park, ice-skating, mountainboarding, horse riding, mini-golf, fishing, devil-karting, elastic-fly (bungee swing), mountain donkey rambles, mini-electric cars, pony rides, skateboard park.

Childcare & Kids Clubs

The local, ‘not-for-profit’ crèche “l’Outa” is just a 5-minute walk from the Simply Morzine properties. Two excellent private nanny services are also available. Simply Morzine can offer an evening babysitting service.

Minimum Age

There is no minimum age for the holidays. Some of the individual activities have minimum height, weight and/or age restrictions.

Undiscovered Alps is a family business specialising in walking and activity holidays in a beautiful and little known part of the Southern French Alps. The region is rarely visited by the Brits and is a quiet, friendly, family destination with plenty of culture and French charm and a wide range of activities to suit all ages and abilities. You can do something different each day, learn a skill like kayaking for the week, or just relax in the stunning scenery and fresh mountain air. Undiscovered Alps will tailor make your perfect family activity holiday. Some activities, like paragliding and rafting have a minimum age limit but there are plenty of other activities for younger children. Accommodation

Undiscovered Alps have a full range of accommodation including camping, self catering apartments and chalets, bed and breakfasts, hotels, chalets and even two converted french chateaux. Most places have family rooms and facilities.

Activities

Some of the alpine sports available include walking (there’s a network of child friendly mountain refuges if you want to experience a real alpine walk in the mountains), tree climbing (with an option to spend the night in a hammock), mountain biking, caving, paragliding, white water sports, kayaking, canyoning, ropes adventure courses, pony trekking, via ferrata, rock climbing, quad biking, trampolining and water sports on the lake. All the activity providers used are fully qualified to French and European standards. They speak English and are friendly and helpful with local knowledge and experience.

Childcare & Kids Clubs

There is an excellent ‘maison de l’enfant’ offering half-day or full-day care (with lunch) for children aged between 3 months and 6 years. It’s open four days a week in the summer and 7 days a week in winter. The centre has several light indoor areas, sleeping and dining rooms, outdoor play areas and they do a variety of activities with the children including arts and crafts, games and nature trails. There are also crèche facilities, available every week day in most villages and a babysitting service at any time.

Minimum Age Some activities have minimum ages but there are plenty of choices of activities for younger children.

Vamos Travel

Vamos Travel is a family run tour operator, specialising in family activity holidays and adventure breaks in Slovenia. Their adventure holidays are based in a town called Tolmin, close to the Julian Alps and Italy. Surrounded by nature, families can enjoy a wide selection of land and water activities. Each day you will be led by an experienced team of local guides who treat guests as their friends. Different activities are planned for each day, keeping everybody occupied and having maximum amount of fun. Try our stunning Adrenaline ‘high ropes’ park, kayaking along fresh water rapids, trekking through Alpine meadows, biking along country tracks and of course, the locally produced cuisine. Your family active break can be tailored to suit your preferences or you can choose from one of the set holiday itineraries. Vamos Travel also operate a ‘responsible travel’ policy to ensure that the holidays benefit the communities and environments that you visit.

Destinations Slovenia: Tolmin in the Julian Alps region.
Accommodation The accommodation provided is at the Hotel Krn in the heart of Tolmin. The Hotel Km is a locally run 3 star hotel, offering en-suite twin, triple and quad rooms. Locally sourced meals are provided on a half-board basis.
For holidays including an overnight trek, a night will be spent in a mountain hut.
Activities A full programme of actvities is included with your holiday. Activities vary by holiday, but might include mountain biking, walking, trekking, night canoeing, canyoning, kayaking, white water rafting, mini rafting, fresh water swimming, hydro speeding, adventure treasure hunts, nature hikes, adrenaline park or quad biking.

Minimum Age Minimum age is 10 years old to participate in all the activities.
If you have children younger than 10 years, a programme can be tailor made to suit the whole family.

360 Sun and Ski provides summer family catered holidays to the French alpine village of Les Carroz d'Araches. Les Carroz is 40 minutes from Geneva on the road to Chamonix. It has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Over recent years it has evolved from a small Savoyard hamlet to a year-round resort, but without losing its character and warmth. The holidays are designed for families with children but without you paying for the privilege: children under the age of 16 stay free of charge - you only pay for their food and there is also just one price for adults all year round. 360 Sun and Ski also offer family ski holidays.

Destinations France: Les Carroz d'Araches.
Accommodation

Traditional French alpine chalet with 5 family suites. The chalet is child-friendly and equipped with toys, videos and books All the equipment you need from baby cots to bibs and buggies - even sterilisers and listening devices, is provided free of charge. .

Meals can be catered, bed and breakfast or self-catered. The catered option includes breakfast, afternoon tea and a 4 course evening meal.
Activities There are many alpine activities available in the resort including a 4-swimming pool water park, canyoning, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, parapenting, rock climbing, horse and pony riding and white water rafting. There is even the option of a family hike with a guide and a donkey.

Creche: A chalet-based creche is available for babies and young children. Childcare is flexible with hourly, half day or full day care for as many days as you wish.

Resort Childcare: Les Carroz has 2 regular childcare clubs open to visitors during the summer.
Evening Babysitting: This can be arranged.
