Activities Abroad offer more than just the usual family holiday experience; we have developed an extensive programme of overseas organised activity holidays and tailor-made family winter activity holidays in Finland, Sweden and Norway, featuring a wide range of activities. We offer experiences such as husky sledding, ice fishing, reindeer farms and safaris, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and many, many more.
The schedule is planned to allow for free time so that you can take advantage of the many ski and snowboarding slopes. Add the opportunity to see the amazing spectacle that is the Aurora Borealis or visit the Laino Snow Castle and you have quite unique winter holidays that will appeal to young and old alike.
Our trips are designed for families and single parent families of all abilities from absolute beginners to experienced enthusiasts. Wherever possible we use local suppliers for activities and accommodation offering a more real and authentic experience.
We love what we do, we live and breathe it, eat and sleep it. We care about sending people on the very best experiences. We have visited every single one of our destinations and selected the best locations, trips and accommodations. We would never send anyone on a trip that we don’t love ourselves.

Wherever possible the accommodation we use reflects the local environment and local culture. A range of accommodation is used including apartments, farmhouses, guesthouses and hotels.

Comfortable wilderness cabins are used on dog sled safaris.

Our winter holidays are based in Finland, Sweden and Norway. We offer multi activity holidays, Father Christmas holidays, log cabins and winter cottage breaks and tailor made holidays giving you the freedom to pick and choose your own activity programme. We include free days so that you can take time to enjoy the local ski slopes (payable locally).

Other activities on offer include husky safaris, snowmobile safaris, a visit to a reindeer farm and reindeer safari, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and an audience with Father Christmas.
All activities are provided by local activity providers. You choose to do as many or as few activities as you like - you only pay for the activities chosen.
We provide all your cold weather clothing for the duration of your stay and on most trips meals are also included in the price.

Minimum Age Holidays: From 3 years for organised activity holidays. Minimum ages are specified for each holiday. There is no minimum age for tailor-made holidays.

Mark Warner

A Mark Warner ski holiday gives you a number of choices so that you and your family can ski the way you want to. The in-house childcare means your little ones can have fun with others their own age while you get out on the slopes. Or join our ski hosting groups for a full day skiing and lunch on the mountain, knowing your children are being well looked after by our childcare team.

Accommodation is in conveniently located, child friendly chalethotels which combine the conviviality of a chalet holiday with the comforts of a hotel. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner with wine is included in your holiday. Some chalethotels offer family suites, interconnecting rooms and mini apartments.

A range of baby equipment can be supplied including travel cots, steam sterilisers, nappy changing facilities, baby baths and potties

Ski Lessons: For those learning to ski or looking to improve their skiing, group lessons can be pre-booked for all levels of skier for both adults and children with local ski schools. Children's ski lessons are with ski schools that have excellent reputations for teaching children. All the instructors used to teach children are English speaking and experienced.

Advanced Ski Courses: Mark Warner works with Snoworks to offer a fully comprehensive programme of pre-bookable advanced technical ski courses. For intermediate, advanced and expert skiers, Snoworks technical ski courses will take your skiing to a new level anywhere on the mountain and in any snow conditions. There are 8 courses to choose from including 2 courses for junior skiers.

Ski Hosting: A ski hosting servce is available where Mark Warner ski hosts will guide you to the best pistes, the best snow and help you to avoid the crowds.

Childcare & Kids Clubs

Children's Clubs : Mark Warner childcare caters for children aged from 4 months to 12 year olds spread over 4 children's clubs for 4-11 months, 1-2 years, 3-5 years and 6-12 years olds. The clubs run from morning to late afternoon, so that parents can have a full day's skiing.

Professional, English speaking nannies organise a range of indoor and outdoor activities. The younger children who are not old enough to ski are looked after in our in house creche. While the older children can be dropped off and picked up from ski school by our nannies, so that parents can have a full day skiing.

Evening Childcare : A free evening drop in creche service is provided on six evenings from 7.30-11pm.

Mountainbug is a small activity company based in the French Pyrenees and offering skiing and snowshoeing winter holidays, all of which are popular with families. Accommodation is at a beautifully renovated 18th century village house in the traditional mountain village of Bareges. Mountainbug also runs walking and multi-activity holidays in the Summer - see the Alpine Sports section for details.

3-star chalet-style accommodation is provided in a newly restored 18th century stone house situated in the heart of Bareges village. The chalet can accommodate up to 14 people in 5 en-suite bedrooms, including one family suite, which sleeps 4 -7 people. The chalet has a spacious lounge with bar, wood-burning stove, books & games and big-screen home cinema. There is also a heated equipment room, sauna and patio with mountain views. Accommodation is on a half-board basis (B&B on request).


Skiing: The Tourmalet resort is the largest ski area in the French Pyrenees with over 100km of pistes. It is only five minutes ride to the lifts on the free ski bus, which departs regularly from just outside the Mountainbug chalet. You can ski home to the village on a pretty green run beside the river.

The Tourmalet resort is great for families, with gentle nursery slopes and plenty of cruising green and blue pistes giving access right across the resort. There is an excellent ski school, whose instructors speak English and work particularly well with children. There is a ski crèche available for children from 3 years old. Group or private ski lessons and equipment hire can be pre-booked through Mountainbug.

Ski Mountaineering/Ski Touring: Escape the pistes and discover the real mountains. Introductory training courses through to hut-to-hut treks in the wildest areas of the Pyrenees. Instruction and leading with qualified High Mountain Guides (not suitable for children).

Snowshoeing: Exploring the Winter wonderland without skis. Just a few minutes walk from the ski resorts, you can find yourself deep in the untouched wilderness of the high mountains, following the tracks of chamois, hare and ermine (the full week’s itinerary is not suitable for children, but a local guide can be booked for half-day or full-day discovery walks).

Ice-climbing: Mountain guides are available for instruction and leading (not suitable for children).

Winter activities for children: skiing, snowshoeing day trips with a local guide, thermal baths, dog-sledding, tobogganing, igloo-building and snowball fighting!

The ‘Helios’ children’s activity centre is open during the February school holidays (3-12 year olds). Private childcare is available with a local babysitter.

Yetis: Powder Byrne exclusive fun and exiting ski programme for kids aged 4 to 9 years that ensure they have fun, whilst developing their ski abilities throughout the day. Off the slopes there are supervised suppers and DVD nights to keep them entertained.
SnoZone: A fun and exciting programme that will take your kids skiing to the next level. With the emphasis on learning new tricks and developing new skills, your kids will learn mogul techniques, ski off-piste and learn a few tricks in the snow park. Evening activities on 2 nights per week, such as ice skating, snow shoeing, bowling or climbing with our SnoZone team. Aimed at 10+ years.

SnoZone Beginners: For 10 year olds (or older) who wants to learn to ski. This programme ensures that older kids learn to ski with children their own age. They also get to join the SnoZone gang for evening activities.

NEW – Free Zone – 14+ years: Free Zone is a complimentary programme, led by fully qualified instructors for teenagers who are competent black run skiers. With the focus on adventure, the group will explore the mountain area with the instructor, who will give tips on technique and mountain knowledge along the way. Available in Flims, Zürs and Grindelwald on 5 days per week during selected weeks.

Powder Zone – 14+ years: Perfect for adventurous adults and teenagers, Powder Zone teaches the thrill of powder skiing. Kitted out with avalanche transceivers, probes and shovels, you will explore off-piste areas, experience ski touring, develop mountain knowledge and master the art of powder skiing. This 3 day course runs in Grindelwald and Zermatt. The course in Zermatt includes a heli-drop onto the Monte Rosa on the third day (weather permitting) guaranteeing an adrenalin-fuelled and memorable experience. Runs 3 days per week.

Martin Bell Ski Camps – 11 to 15 years: Martin Bell Ski Camps offer the perfect opportunity to learn from an ex-Olympic pro! Martin and his assistant will give the latest tips on how to improve style and ski technique, as well as film the kids in action and review progress at the end of each day. Runs 5 days per week.

Evening Kids Activities: As with all our programmes, there will be no chance to get bored in the evenings with fun activities, such as ice skating, snow shoeing, bowling or climbing with our resort team. Evening activities in all resorts.

Pura Aventura

Pura Aventura specialises in responsible and sustainable family adventure holidays to Spain and Latin America. It offers a range of ski holidays in the Chilean Andes and the Spanish Pyrenees. Chile is one of the great skiing destinations in the world – unrivalled in the southern hemisphere. It also offers the possiblity of skiing between June and September. The Spanish Pyrenees offer a fantastic location for skiing and snowboarding at all levels of expertise where you will be able to enjoy friendly resorts, great snow, beautiful scenery and no crowds.

Pure Alpine Holidays specialises in tailor-made tennis, ski and activity holidays to Austria, Italy and Switzerland. The hand-picked resorts – Brand in Austria, Madesimo in Italy and Savognin in Switzerland - offer beautiful settings, excellent facilities, comfortable accommodation, great skiing and high-quality tennis tuition. Brand and Savognin offer the unique concept of a "tennis and ski holiday": In the winter you can ski and play tennis on excellent indoor courts on the same holiday. In the summer, you can play tennis in stunning settings with great weather whilst enjoying all the benefits of a summer mountain holiday.

Some of the hotels offer baby equipment including cots, baby monitors, bottle-warmers, baby bath-tubs, changing mats, nappy bins, water wings, pushchairs, backpacks, sledges with backrests and highchairs. Some hotels have children's play rooms, with toys and books and all offer children's menus.

Skiing: Skiing is available at all 3 resorts through the local ski schools. The ski schools offer group and individual lessons in downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding, all with English-speaking instructors. Pure Alpine Holidays specialises in helping people who want to get back into skiing, whether you have not skied for many years, are nervous or have never had the opportunity to ski. They offer a special programme though their partner ski schools called "Back to Skiing"

Tennis: Tennis holidays are available at Brand, Austria and Savognin, Switzerland. All levels of tennis players are welcome including beginners, children, juniors, adults and advanced players. The tennis courses in Brand are run by the European Tennis Academy. The tennis centre in Brand has four outdoor and three indoor courts. The tennis courses in Savognin are run by the Pure Alpine Holidays resident tennis coach and are ideal for beginners and intermediates. The standard tennis courses range in length from three to five days, but other specialised courses and private lessons can be arranged on request.

Pro-hosted Summer Tennis Weeks: In the summer, Pure Alpine Holidays run 2 specially designed weeks of tennis in the Austrian Alps hosted by former top UK and world ranked tennis players. Coaching will be in small groups of only four players per coach, with additional free court time, a Pimms & Strudel “Davis Cup” tournament and prize giving. All levels of player will be catered for, from total beginners to advanced , including children.

Other Winter Activities: Sledging, indoor tennis, archery, swimming, indoor golf, winter walking, snowshoeing, ice-skating, ice climbing, snow safaris, snow scooters, snow blades and night skiing.

Other Summer Activities: Horse riding, golf, hiking, fishing, archery, mountain biking, swimming and spa treatments.

A supervised activity programmes for children aged 3-11 years is available in some of the hotels. In winter, all 3 resorts offer ski school with great nursery slopes and child care with supervised lunch during the day.

A baby-sitting service is available at all of the hotels and in some of the self catering apartments on request.
The resorts are small and family orientated therefore adding an element of security to give you peace of mind during your holiday.

Simply Morzine

Simply Morzine is a family run company based in the village of Morzine in the French Alps. It offers family skiing and snowboarding holidays based in luxury accommodation. Morzine is in the centre of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area which offers an immense variety of runs for all standards of skier and snowboarder. A ski hosting (guiding) service is provided for guests on 3 days of the week. Simply Morzine also offer family summer alpine sports and multi-activity holidays.

Destinations France: Morzine-Avoriaz in the French Alps.

A choice of properties is available to suit individual requirements. The accommodation ranges from the luxury catered Chalet des Montagnes, the luxury catered Chalet Madeleine, two self catered apartments and the traditional, family run Chalet-Hotel la Chaumiere. All catered properties have either an outdoor jacuzzi, sauna or swimming pool. The properties are all located in quiet areas with no through traffic and have pleasant gardens with outdoor games e.g. table tennis, boules, badminton etc. A range of baby equipment is also available including cots, baby linen, stairgates, child car seats, booster seats, plastic crockery and cutlery. There are also indoor and outdoor games, videos and DVDs.


As well as skiing and snowboarding, there are many other winter sports available in Morzine.

Skiing/Snowboarding: Morzine is in the centre of the largest internationally linked ski area in the world. The vast Portes du Soleil offers an immense variety of runs for all standards of skier and snowboarder, with 650km of pistes and more than 200 lifts spanning 13 linked resorts in France and Switzerland. Many of the accommodation options offer doorstep skiing.

Ski Hosting (Guiding): Catered chalet and hotel guests can take advantage of the Simply Morzine ski and snowboarding hosting service. This service is included in your holiday and is available on 3 days of the week.

Ski Lessons: Professional tuition is available from either the Ecole du Ski Français (ESF) or British Alpine Ski and Snowboard School (BASS).

Other Activities: There are many other activities available including cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, ski mountaineering, ice climbing, ice diving, sledging, ice skating, tobogganing, paragliding, husky and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Childcare & Kids Clubs The local, ‘not-for-profit’ crèche “l’Outa” is just a 5-minute walk from the Simply Morzine properties. Two excellent private nanny services are also available. Simply Morzine can offer an evening babysitting service.

Ski Famille specialises in family skiing holidays. It offers quality catered chalets in the French Alpine resorts of Les Gets and Reberty Village (Three Valleys). Les Gets is a family-friendly ski resort whilst Reberty Village sits at the heart of the Three Valleys. Chalet-based childcare is provided free of charge by Ski Famille's team of qualified and experienced carers, leaving parents free to enjoy two of the world's largest ski areas.

Destinations France: Les Gets, Reberty Village (Three Valleys).

Catered chalets. All chalets have been chosen for their suitability for families and are equipped with childcare essentials. There is usually a dedicated playroom and children are able to have their own bedrooms at no extra charge, although family rooms are available.

Ski/Snowboard Lessons: Both Les Gets and Reberty have a wide choice of instruction for skiing and boarding including English-speaking options.

Childcare & Kids Clubs Chalet-based childcare: Childcare is based in the chalet you stay in, rather than in a centralised crèche, and your children will usually have the same carers for the duration of the holiday. Children aged from a few months to 12 years can be cared for. The service operates five days a week from 8.30am - 4.30pm and is there for you to use as little or as much as you want. The service includes escort to and from ski school. Childcare is included in all chalet prices.

Evening Childcare: Babysitting is available six nights a week.

Undiscovered Alps is a family business specialising in skiing and winter activity holidays in a beautiful and little known part of the Southern French Alps. The region is a quiet, friendly, family destination making it ideal for family winter fun.  There are all sorts of activities you can do in the snow, snowshoeing, husky dog sledging, ski joering (being pulled along on your skis by a horse), snow mountain biking and snowscoot as well as snowboarding, cross country and alpine skiing. For skiing and piste sports there are four small village stations that are well geared up for children –  small enough that they won't get lost or have to stand in long lift queues and big enough to feel adventurous. And, for those who want a bigger challenge there is the large ski resort of Orcieres at the top of the valley with over 100km of piste, a snow park, slalom course and its own special children’s area. There’s also an igloo village you can visit and stay the night in on the top. Undiscovered Alps will tailor make your perfect family skiing or winter activity holiday. Destinations France: Champsaur and Valgaudemar in the Southern French Alps.

There is a full range of accommodation in the valley, including self catering apartments and chalets, bed and breakfasts, hotels, chalets and even two converted french chateaux. Most places have family rooms and facilities.


Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snowscoot, snow mountain biking, paragliding, ice diving, cross-country skiing, husky dog sledging, ski joering, sledging, ice skating, visiting igloo village.

Skiing & Snowboarding: Orcieres 1850 is a large bustling resort with over 100 km of piste, a snow park and slalom course. There’s a special ski kindergarten for children aged 3 to 6 years, a great swimming pool with mountain view and good choice of shops and restaurants, all within walking distance. The ski school has a very good reputation and the instructors speak English.

If you want a more traditional French family ski holiday you can base yourself in one of the four small ski villages. These are very pretty and quiet with between 10 and 15 ski lifts, no lift queues and are very friendly and safe – perfect for beginners and children. They all have ESF ski schools and child care facilities.

Cross-country skiing: Cross-country skiing is a beautiful way to explore an area and there is an extensive network of over 200km of cross-country routes passing through some of the most stunning parts of the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys. Full or half day group and individual ski lessons are available with English speaking instructors.

There is an excellent ‘maison de l’enfant’ kids club in Orcieres offering half-day or full-day care (with lunch) for children aged between 3 months and 6 years. It’s open 7 days a week and has several light indoor areas, sleeping and dining rooms, outdoor play areas and they do a variety of activities with the children including arts and crafts, games and nature trails. For children between 3 and 6 years they can ski with the French ski school ESF on their special ski kindergarten - 2 hectares with a decorated ski run, a conveyor belt, a mini T-bar and a snow cannon.

For non-skiing children between 6 and 11, the club offers sledging, swimming, arts & crafts workshops etc. during the Christmas and February holidays.

Crèche facilities and ski kindergartens are also available in the ski villages and a babysitting service is also available.

Minimum Age

Skiing and most other snow sports have a minimum age of 3 years. However, sledging and husky dog rides are fine for toddlers. Undiscovered Alps will also loan you a baby carrier for snowshoe walks if you want to take your baby or toddler out in the snow (not recommended for long or technical walks or in very cold weather)..

360 Sun and Ski provides family winter skiing catered holidays to the French alpine village of Les Carroz d'Araches. Les Carroz is 40 minutes from Geneva on the road to Chamonix. It has a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Over recent years it has evolved from a small Savoyard hamlet to a year-round resort, but without losing its character and warmth. The holidays are designed for families with children but without you paying for the privilege: children under the age of 16 stay free of charge - you only pay for their food and there is also just one price for adults all year round. 360 Sun and Ski also offer family alpine sports holidays.

Accommodation Traditional French alpine chalet with 5 family suites. The chalet is child-friendly and equipped with toys, videos and books All the equipment you need from baby cots to bibs and buggies - even sterilisers and listening devices, is provided free of charge. .
Meals can be catered, bed and breakfast or self-catered. The catered option includes breakfast, afternoon tea and a 4 course evening meal.
Activities Skiing: Les Carroz is the ideal resort for kids learning to ski; in the resort village centre there are 2 teleski lifts on the beginners' slopes, plus snow cannons to ensure a good covering of snow well into April most years. There is also floodlit skiing on offer 3 nights a week. For competent skiers, the Flaine ski system offers over 265 km of pistes for all standards with skiing up to 2,500 metres.
Ski School: There is an English-speaking ski school for children.
Ski Guiding: Ski guiding can be arranged to tour Les Carroz, Flaine and other local ski areas including the Vallee Blanche in Chamonix.
Other winter activities available in the resort include cross-country skiing, husky dog sledding, hot air ballooning, ice skating, parapenting, snowmobiling and snowshoeing. There is even the option of a night trek to dinner in a mountain refuge.
Childcare & Kids Clubs Creche: A chalet-based creche is available for babies and young children. Childcare is flexible with hourly, half day or full day care for as many days as you wish.
Evening Babysitting: This can be arranged.
Minimum Age Skiing: 3 years.
